Pat Peloso is a distinguished and experienced litigator, having acted as senior counsel, trial and appellate counsel, and mediator in a wide variety of disputes. Pat is a graduate of the University of Ottawa Law School, and was called to the bar in 1985. Pat spent two decades as the head of the insurance law practice group at a large international law firm before joining Cavanagh in 2025. He is further experienced as counsel in a wide range of areas of law, including personal injury litigation (both Plaintiff and Defendant), commercial litigation, property and casualty work for insurers, errors and omissions, insurance coverage disputes, together with estate litigation.

More recently as a mediator, Pat has established a successful career and negotiated hundreds of settlements for a wide range of clientele. In his mediation practice, Pat carries over the same level of preparation and professionalism that defines his courtroom work. He creates a respectful, supportive environment where parties feel heard and understood, enabling him to guide even the most challenging disputes toward resolution.

Pat has been recognized in the Best Lawyers in Canada since 2013 in the areas of Insurance Law and Personal Injury Litigation, and was named “Lawyer of the Year” by Best Lawyers in 2022 for Insurance Law in Canada, and in 2027 was named “Lawyer of the Year” for Personal Injury Litigation in Ottawa.
